Col. Decilio de Medeiros Sales of Brazil was present at the first Steel cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of the series construction of the new class offshore patrol vessels for the Indian Coast Guard at Goa Shipyard Ltd. Col. Decilio de Medeiros Sales integrated the Brazilian delegation in an official visit to the Indian R&D institutions.
The first Steel cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of the series construction of the new class Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Indian Coast Guard was held at Goa Shipyard Ltd on 14 May 2012.
Significantly, the steel cutting ceremony for first of the vessels comes just six days after signing of the contract for the construction of six nos. Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard on 9th May 2012 .
DIG S D Bhanot TM, COMDIS Goa did the honour in the distinguished presence of a high level visiting delegation from South Africa and Brazil led by Mr. Anthony Visser, Chief of Defence Material MoD, South Africa and Col. Decilio de Medeiros Sales, Brazil, RAdm (Retd) Vineet Bakhshi VSM, Chairman and Managing Director, Goa Shipyard Ltd., senior officials of the Coast Guard and GSL.
The Brazilian delegation, which included besides Col. Decilio de Medeiros Sales the Col. Adriano Ferreira de Carvalho, was in official visit to the Indian R&D Institutions New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Goa in the period of 5th May to 18th May of this year.
